📖 Synopsis
Having brilliantly defeated Brock at the Pewter Gym, my Pokémon and I head toward our next destination: Cerulean City.
However, on the way, unique trainers and the dark, treacherous “Mt. Moon" stand in our path.
Furthermore, in Cerulean City, we meet a mysterious guy who hands out “Nuggets," and an intense Gym battle with Misty awaits us…!?
The journey through the Kanto region is still full of twists and turns!
🏃♀️ Route 3’s Unique Trainers & The Nightmare of Mt. Moon!

First, we cleared Pewter City and headed out onto Route 3! Here, plenty of unique trainers—like Bug Catchers, Youngsters in shorts, and Lass trainers—were waiting to challenge us.
With continuous battles, my Pokémon couldn’t keep their HP up, so I had to run all the way back to the Pewter City Pokémon Center to heal over and over again~! Talk about a spartan training session right from the early game💦
🦇 Encounters on Route 4 & The Terror of “Poison" in Mt. Moon
In the tall grass on Route 4 right before entering Mt. Moon, I spent some time grinding and managed to catch Nidoran♀ (Risa) and Jigglypuff (Caramel)! They were the exact Pokémon I was aiming for, so I was super happy to catch them and add them to my team✨

And then came the biggest hurdle of this stream: Mt. Moon! Aren’t wild Zubat just the absolute worst…!? When your Pokémon get poisoned, every single step you take makes the screen flash with a “crunch" sound as their HP drains away—pure horror…! If I hadn’t prepared Escape Ropes and Repels, I seriously would have been stuck… (sob).
The cave was huge and packed with trainers, forcing me to backtrack outside to heal again and again. Mt. Moon is truly a force to be reckoned with…!
💰 Goldenball Bridge Alchemy!? (Nugget Farming Glitch)

After a long struggle, we finally arrived in Cerulean City! That’s where we encountered the famous “Nugget Bridge" (Nugget Bridge / Goldenball Bridge)!
Everyone, we stumbled upon an insane money-making trick…! If you defeat 5 trainers in a row, you get a “Nugget" that sells for 5,000 Pokedollars. But if you intentionally lose to the Team Rocket Grunt right after, you can actually receive another “Nugget" over and over again!
When I tested it out, I was grinding at a pace of 4 Nuggets every 5 minutes, making me want to aim all the way for 90 Nuggets (around 450,000 Pokedollars!) lol. This is a bug-level trick unique to classic retro games, but it helps out immensely for our upcoming adventure!
💦 Intense Battle! Gym Leader Misty

After swelling our pockets with cash, it was time to challenge the Cerulean Gym Leader, Misty!
Since she uses Water-type Pokémon, Ivysaur (Gloria) and Pikachu (Satoko) played huge roles! Her Starmie was super tough and had me on the edge of my seat, but by aiming for paralysis with Pikachu and striking its weakness with Ivysaur’s Grass-type moves, we managed to secure the Cascade Badge~!🎉
…By the way, I noticed something a little funny. Inside the Cerulean Gym, the Swimmer guys and Misty were properly dressed in swimwear, but the Picnicker girl was wearing her usual Girl Scout-style outfit. Since it’s a water-themed Gym, I kind of wished everyone was dressed in swimsuits… Or am I the only one who thought that? lol
💡 Useful Tips (Strategy Guide)!
Here are some key strategy tips I learned from playing up to this point!
- Antidotes and Repels are a must!: Before entering Mt. Moon, make sure to stock up on items! Preparing for Zubat’s “Poison" is absolutely vital!
- Utilize the Nugget farming loop!: The loop where you intentionally lose to the Team Rocket Grunt on Nugget Bridge is 100% worth doing if you have time! It’s the best early-game money-maker💰
- Take on Water-types with Grass and Electric!: Misty’s Starmie in the Cerulean Gym is a formidable foe. Properly training Ivysaur and Pikachu is the key to victory!
🎙️ Riri’s Summary Impressions 💜
Exploring Mt. Moon was truly grueling, but the sense of accomplishment when finally breaking through was incredible!
Plus, discovering classic game-exclusive mechanics like the “Nugget loop" is one of the greatest joys of playing retro games. And as for the battle against Misty! Seeing Ivysaur and Pikachu stand so reliably made me fall in love with my team even more✨
Now that we’ve earned the Cascade Badge, we’ll be heading south toward Vermilion City!
I wonder what kind of new friends and events are waiting for us next? I’m so excited~!♪
