Dragon Ball: Shenron no Nazo Play Diary 02: Come Forth, Shenron! Total Panic Over a Girl’s Panties and a Mysterious Space Stage!? – Riri Ititama

2026年11月2日

This time, I’m bringing you part 2 of my play diary for the very first Dragon Ball game, the Famicom title Dragon Ball: Shenron no Nazo! 🎮
After the last stream, I thought, “This just won’t do!" and restarted from the beginning with fresh determination… but with careful saves and all sorts of prep work, it took me a full two hours just to get back to Pilaf’s Castle from last time!
Honestly, this game really is a completely unfair, brutal game…! 💦

🌟 Synopsis

Pilaf’s mansion, entered in search of the Dragon Balls.
Various terrifying traps awaited there.
Will Goku and friends manage to gather all seven Dragon Balls…?

🍖 Two Hours of Sheer Determination! Brought to Tears by Meat-and-Cake RNG Tweaking

I really worked so hard for two hours!

I fought that troublesome Yamcha again, and slipped in a quick save every time cake or meat appeared…

I mean, having “HP" and the “time limit" share the same gauge is just way too brutal!

My HP drains away as time passes, yet recovery-item drops are completely random.

My fate being left to the whims of cake and meat is just insane!

🐉 Come Forth, Shenron! What Happened with the Four Wishes?

After overcoming countless hardships, Goku and friends finally gathered all seven Dragon Balls! It’s time to summon Shenron! ✨

Here are the four wishes you can choose from!

  1. Make the dragon on the title screen move
  2. See the future
  3. Power up
  4. I want a girl’s panties

In the original story, this is the one wish Oolong made — “a girl’s panties," no question!

So, being sneaky, I saved first and tested out every single wish (lol).

  • When I wished for “a girl’s panties," Master Roshi’s panties event triggered! …but it was a complete reuse of Stage 1, lol
  • “Make the title move" just makes the dragon on the title screen move more smoothly.
  • “See the future" warps you straight to the space story (Stage 11)! In an era with no save feature, that’s way too harsh…!
  • After trying everything, I reached the very practical conclusion that choosing “Power up," which raises your total HP, is the best choice! ✨

🥋 Why Are You Guys Here!? A Kung Fu Tournament with No One to Point Out How Weird This Is

The next stage after Shenron granted the wish is, for some reason, entering a “Kung Fu Tournament!"

…Wait, aren’t we skipping a whole lot here? And this isn’t the “Tenkaichi Budokai"!?

I get that Krillin and Yamcha show up as opponents, but then even “Sergeant Metallic" and “Buyon" appear!

Those two are characters from the later “Red Ribbon Army arc" in the original story… The timeline is completely chaotic (lol).

🚀 And Then Off to Space… Which Isn’t in the Original Story!

And the next stage after that takes us all the way to a space stage!

This is completely a game-original development, it’s hilarious.

There’s no way Goku goes to the Moon in the original story!

Plus, there were original enemy characters by Akira Toriyama, and a rematch with the boss rabbit who turns people into carrots…

Come to think of it, that was a mysterious bit of foreshadowing payoff (?) — taking Goku to the Moon with the Power Pole.

☁️ Those Clouds Are So Hard! A Regrettable Game Over

After getting through space, the next stage is “Seventh Island," a port-town-style stage.

It’s full of tricky enemies here too, and the paths are narrow, so it’s easy to take damage.

Enemies in the sea are hard to defeat too! And then there’s the island area full of bridges.

I somehow hung on until just before my destination… but in the end, the recovery items I needed (cake and meat) never dropped at all, and it ended in a regrettable game over. So frustrating…!

💡 This Time’s Strategy Points

Watch out for late-stage enemies and obstacles! Chaotic tough spots keep coming — the Kung Fu Tournament, space, Seventh Island, and more — completely ignoring the original story’s layout. Deal with hard cloud enemies carefully, keeping your distance!

Be thorough with quick saves and RNG tweaking (securing meat and cake)! Since HP drains over time and recovery-item drops are up to luck, saving often is your lifeline to clearing the game!

For Shenron’s wish, “Power up" is the safe choice! After experiencing the joke wishes — “a girl’s panties" and “See the future (the hell of warping to Stage 11)" — go for the practical option and raise your max HP!

💜 Riri’s Impressions

Honestly, I totally get why this game is called a “kusoge" or an “unfair game" — it’s brutal on that level!

I wish it had a save feature, even just a password system…!

There’s no way kids back then could clear such a long, high-difficulty game in one go! …I just wanted to shout that from the bottom of my heart (lol).

A game called an action game, but really a “cake game" — terrifying!

Next time, I’m going to aim for a god-tier pull of cake and meat and completely conquer this brutal difficulty!

I’m absolutely going to charge all the way to clearing it, so look forward to the next update! 💖

※ If you’re going to read the original manga for Dragon Ball: Shenron no Nazo from the beginning, I recommend starting with Volume 1!
