🎮 [LIVE A LIVE #01] The Stone Age Has No Money and No Words?! Diving into the Primitive Era with Pogo & Megalomania!【Riri Ititama / VTuber】

Today, I want to introduce a brand-new game gifted to me by a friend!
It’s called “LIVE A LIVE"!
An absolute masterpiece of an RPG originally released on the Super Famicom by Square.
With “seven different stories" set across completely different eras and locations, I was beyond excited to see what kind of adventures awaited me!
📘Game Info

🌟Synopsis
Together with his gorilla buddy, Goro (Gori),
our protagonist Pogo has safely been recognized as a full-fledged hunter.
One peaceful night,
a girl named Beru—who ran away after being chosen as a sacrifice by a rival tribe, the “Kuu Clan"—rushes over to his place.
Unable to look the other way,
Pogo decides to protect and help her,
but little did he know this was the start of a massive tribe-wide uproar…!
🦴 Stepping Into the First Chapter: The “Primitive Era"!

Our very first playthrough starts with the “Primitive Era"!
The moment I started, what shocked me most was… there are no words at all!
Instead of dialogue, the story progresses entirely through “emotion bubbles" popping up over the characters’ heads.
The character design is by Yoshinori Kobayashi, famous for Obocchama-kun!
Everything is drawn in such a comical way that feelings and situations come across crystal clear even without words, which is super fascinating!
💸 No Concept of Money!? A Realistically Harsh Stone Age
And another huge surprise: RPGs usually have currency, but here, there is no money concept at all!
The items you pick up are things like “stones" and “wooden sticks"……
Well, it’s true you wouldn’t find any fancy modern items lying around in the Stone Age (lol).
I couldn’t help but chuckle at how weirdly realistic that setting is.
⚔️ Formation is Key!? A Unique Battle System 🌟
The battle system is also super unique!
I thought it would be a normal command-based RPG, but it’s more like an action-gauge tactical system.
It’s a bit different from standard tactical games, but thinking about formations and positioning pays off in surprising ways, making it so much fun!
By the way, because there’s no language in the Primitive Era, all the skill names sound like funny onomatopoeia.
Memorizing elements, ranges, and effects seems to be the secret to clearing it!
💜A Cast of Quirky Characters 🧚♀️
The characters are so charming, too!

Boco (Pogo): Our protagonist! Strong enough to flex his muscles, and with a super-powered sense of smell to sniff out prey! But he also has a weak spot for girls, a classic energetic boy.
Beru: Absolutely adorable! Her voice is so cute and healing.
Gori: A great buddy! He’s a power-type, and since he doesn’t have much equipment, his base stats are probably set super high!
Zaki: Rocking a style with a lizard wrapped right around his crotch (lol). I was like, “Is that okay?! w," but as an enemy, he was surprisingly tough!
📖 A Wild Story Climax & Humanity’s First Word 🦖
After helping Beru, Zaki, the leader of the Kuu Clan, comes after her, and because of the ruckus, Pogo and Gori get banished from their tribe.
They go rescue Beru again, heading toward a final showdown with Zaki…!
…Or so they thought, when suddenly a massive dinosaur appears?!
In the end, Pogo and Zaki’s crew team up to defeat the dinosaur, and the two tribes decide to walk hand in hand.
And then comes the ending.

Pogo and Beru have a classic “So, it was fun last night…" kind of development, and Pogo shouts, “Aii~~!!"
That’s right, humanity’s very first spoken word was “Love" (Ai in Japanese) (lol).
Honestly, the whole thing turned into a glorious gag scenario!
💬Riri’s Impressions 💜
Just like that, I managed to clear the “Primitive Era" in under three and a half hours—boom!
It flowed at such a nice, brisk pace, and if there are 7 chapters in total, that’s easily around 20 hours of solid gameplay volume!
And above all, that final boss theme playing during the battle… “Megalomania"……!
Wasn’t it insanely cool?!
My hype went straight through the roof🔥
Plus, even though there’s zero language in the Stone Age, the character emotes and body language make the story come across so clearly. It’s truly an amazing idea!
I was surprised at first, but as I played, I naturally started understanding what they wanted to say. It’s so magical.
Knowing that completely different little stories will unfold in each era makes me look forward to what’s coming next even more!
So next up, I’m thinking of tackling the “Bakumatsu Era"!
Since the world and system will be completely different again, I’m so excited to see what kind of mishaps and drama await us…
Everyone, please come and hang out at the next stream too, let’s have fun together💜
