🎮 [Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Playthrough Log] Classic SFC Beat ‘Em Up! Clearing the Game with All Sailor Guardians in “Nakayoshi Mode”♪ [Ititama Riri/VTuber]

Today, I played the Super Famicom classic side-scrolling action game, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon!
Using the secret cheat code to unlock the hidden “Nakayoshi Mode" (Friendly Mode), I set out on a casual (?) mission to beat the game with all five Sailor Guardians! 💖
📘Game Info

Title: Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon
Developer / Publisher: Angel (Bandai Group)
Genre: Belt-scrolling Beat 'Em Up
Platform: Super Famicom (SNES)
Release Date: August 27, 1993
🌟Synopsis
The Sailor Guardians rise up to thwart the evil ambitions of the Dark Kingdom and the monsters terrorizing the city!
Using the unique skills and characteristics of all 5 Guardians—Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus—they battle through waves of incoming enemies to reach the ultimate showdown in this full-fledged side-scrolling action game!
In this stream, I took on a special playthrough challenge to dash through every stage with all five Guardians using the secret “Nakayoshi Mode" code! 💖
💖Unlocked via Secret Code! The Surprising Truth Behind “Nakayoshi Mode"!? ⭐
In this game, if you hold the X button while selecting Options, you can activate the hidden “Nakayoshi Mode"!
I started the stream thinking, “Oh, this must be the easiest beginner-friendly mode♪"… but guess what?
Plot twist: The damage you take from enemies is exactly the same as Normal mode (lol)!?
It turns out this mode actually keeps the enemy HP and speed pretty high—making it slightly harder than “Easy" mode, but sitting right in that sweet spot between Easy and Normal!
However, it does feature a very generous system where using your Special Move doesn’t drain your HP, allowing me to stay alive and enjoy the journey all the way to the end✨
🌙 Packed with Personality! Playstyle & Traits of the 5 Sailor Guardians 📜
Since I had the chance, I decided to complete the game using all five Sailor Guardians!
Here is my personal breakdown of everyone’s unique playstyles after taking them for a spin♪
- Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon)
- Traits: A well-balanced powerhouse, just as you’d expect from the main character!
- Playstyle: Her punch attacks deal heavy damage, making it super easy to lock enemies in a punch combo! She’s amazingly strong, though her reach is a bit short, so spacing is key♪
- Ami Mizuno (Sailor Mercury)
- Traits: A technical speed-type character focused on agility!
- Playstyle: She moves gracefully and is super fun to fight with! Believe it or not, she actually conceals one of the highest damaging moves among all characters✨
- Rei Hino (Sailor Mars)
- Traits: A well-rounded character with excellent range and damage on her normal attacks!
- Playstyle: She mainly fights with kick attacks, giving her great reach that makes her super easy to handle! Wiping out enemies with her “Akuryo Taisan" talisman and slapping them with paper fans felt so satisfying!
- Makoto Kino (Sailor Jupiter)
- Traits: A power-type character boasting overwhelming raw strength!
- Playstyle: Her attack power is insanely high and super reliable! Her flashy dropkicks and backdrops that hurl enemies across the screen are insanely impactful (lol)!
- Minako Aino (Sailor Venus)
- Traits: A long-range specialist utilizing her chain!
- Playstyle: Her long-range attacks with the Love-Me Chain are super safe and powerful! Being able to attack enemies from completely outside their reach offers top-tier stability, making her highly recommended for beginners♪
🍮 Hilarious Stream Moments & Cute Details! 💥
I stumbled upon so many cute details and hilarious stream moments along the way (lol)!
- The Mega Pudding Jiggles!?
- In Stage 2’s candy land area, if you execute specific throw moves using Mercury or Jupiter… the gigantic pudding sitting in the background actually jiggles back and forth! The developers’ attention to detail is just way too cute~!
- Getting Pummeled While Away (lol)
- A delivery arrived during the stream, so I stepped away saying “BRB~!"… but I completely forgot to pause the game! By the time I came back, poor Rei was getting brutally beaten up by the enemy (lol)! I screamed “I thought it was paused~!" which turned into a hilarious revenge match!
💬Overall Impressions 💜
The difficulty was just right, and “Nakayoshi Mode" was at a level where even I could clear the game comfortably!
Though it’s clearly meant as a helpful relief mode, I do wonder why on earth they made it a secret cheat code… (lol)?
The opening theme BGM was fantastic, and the character pixel art was extremely well done!
Though seeing the Sailor Guardians engage in full-blown, Precure-style bare-knuckle brawl action was honestly pretty funny as part of the overall experience, haha!
Even as a retro Super Famicom title, the controls were responsive and landing attacks felt amazingly good. It’s truly a masterpiece action game!
Each character has clear strengths and weaknesses, so playing all five felt completely different and rewarding♪
And by the way… that enemy appearing along the way…
No matter how you look at it…

Doesn’t he look EXACTLY like Tekkaman from Space Knight Tekkaman (lol)!?
Whether you’re a fan of retro games or grew up with the Sailor Guardians generation, this is a timeless classic you can definitely enjoy today, so please give it a try!
