[Pokémon LeafGreen #05] The Starters Finally Assemble & Celadon Gym Conquered! Officer, This Suspicious Old Man Is Right Here! [Riri Ititama / VTuber]

Today I’m bringing you the 5th play diary for Pokémon LeafGreen!🎮
And get this—we finally had a massive breakthrough…
Namely, I “kindly persuaded" Izumi, who’s playing FireRed, to hand over Charmander and Squirtle—wait, I mean “generously received" them, and now the Kanto starters are all finally together in my hands♪
With this, there’s no way we can lose to any strong opponent… probably!✨

📖 Synopsis
After finally making our way through the long, long Rock Tunnel, we arrived at Lavender Town.
But Riri’s goal is the next gym badge!
And so, we pressed onward to the neon-lit big city: Celadon City!
🛍️ A Shopper’s Paradise! Celadon Dept. Store & Vending Machine Struggles
Speaking of Celadon City, it’s the ultimate shopping heaven—the Department Store!
It’s lined with TMs you can’t get anywhere else and vitamins to boost your Pokémon’s stats, making your wallet feel dangerously light just by looking at them.
However, what I rely on the most is actually the vending machine on the roof.
My favorites, “Fresh Water" and “Soda Pop," offer amazing healing for their price and are absolute lifesavers on our journey, but…
It’s such a shame you can only buy them one at a time!
I really wish bulk-buying was a thing back in this era (lol).
🌹 A Beautiful Garden? Conquering Erika’s Celadon Gym!
Here we are at the Grass-type sanctuary, Celadon City Gym!
My party has Charmeleon and Pidgeotto, so type-wise we have the advantage… but Gym Leader Erika is a true Yamato Nadeshiko young lady.
Not only does she unleash fully-evolved Grass types, but she ruthlessly uses status conditions like “Stun Spore" and “PoisonPowder," which made things super troublesome💦
Still, pushing through with the power of fire and flying, we safely snatched the Rainbow Badge and the TM “Giga Drain"!

Oh, and by the way! There was a suspicious old man outside the gym peering intently inside, so after hearing him mutter something like, “Lots of young girls around here," I made sure to catch him in the act and promptly reported him to the authorities (lol).
Officer, this guy right here!🚨
🎰 The Trap is Too Deep… The Temptation of the Celadon Game Corner
After the gym, I took a little detour to the Game Corner.

Slots have this magical power to melt away hours of your life before you even realize it.
Straining my concentration to line up those “7"s… turns out I’m actually pretty decent at timing the reels, and I managed to line up the “7"s cleanly✨
Though, when it came to gathering coins for prizes, I was hit hard by the harsh modern reality that “just buying them outright with cash" is infinitely more efficient… (lol).
📖 Aiming for the Amulet Coin & Quirky Nicknames
Our closing activity for today was a hardcore Pokédex-filling training session!
To get the “Amulet Coin" (a god-tier item that doubles prize money when held) from Professor Oak’s aide, you need at least 40 Pokémon registered in the Dex.
- Three-Headed Ghidorah (Doduo)🐉
- Coin-Loving Inuko (Meowth)🐱
- Mr. Mime obtained via trade And so on! Adding these uniquely nicknamed companions to the team made even just thinking up names an absolute blast~!
💡 Strategy Tips & Tricks
Prep for Status Conditions at the Celadon Gym! Erika’s “Stun Spore" and “PoisonPowder" are brutal, so make sure to pack plenty of status-healing items and prepare your switches before challenging her!
The Rainbow Badge Makes Pokémon Up to Lv. 50 Obey! This temporarily blows away any level-cap worries, making training your team much smoother✨
Fill the Pokédex to Snag the “Amulet Coin"! Catch Pokémon diligently to fill up your Dex so you can secure that crucial money-making item later on!
💜 Riri’s Summary Impressions
Successfully snagging the Rainbow Badge means Pokémon up to level 50 will finally listen to me, which is a huge relief!
Still, enemies are only going to get tougher from here on out—could I end up hitting another level cap before I even realize it…?💦
Celadon City is packed to the brim with temptations and events, making it a super busy town!
Beneath the glamorous streets of Celadon City…
lies the secret hideout of the evil organization, Team Rocket!?
Next time, we’re infiltrating their base to wipe them out completely! Look forward to it~✨
