Today, I finally dipped my toes into “Hollow Cocoon" (Utsuromayu), a Showa-era retro horror game I’d been avoiding forever because “it’s too scary!"
Here is my first-time playthrough log of sheer terror, where my throat went raspy within the first few minutes. Read on… if you dare! ✨

This entry covers the game from the very beginning up to the “Silkworm Room"!
Here are the highlights of my pathetic screaming and questionable behavior (lol)!
●The Immediate “NO WAY" Declaration (lol)
During difficulty selection, I saw “Hard" and immediately thought: “Hard? No, no, no, WAY!!"
Without hesitation, I picked the easiest option available (with a completely serious face).
I mean, if I’m too terrified to even move forward, what’s the point, right!?
Even so, right after starting, a public phone rang and I leaped out of my seat screaming “Eeeek!!"
Off to a great start…
●Escaping Reality? 10-Yen Arcade Game Addiction!
At the village candy shop, I stumbled upon a nostalgic 10-yen arcade game (the kind where you flick coins like a pinball board).
The moment I found it, my energy skyrocketed!
“It’s scary, so let’s just stay here and play!" I declared, dumping my 10-yen coins into it like water, failing over and over, and stubbornly retrying.
It’s a horror game—why am I getting the most hyped up right here!?
Still, getting a “Winning Ticket" made me super happy~ (pure reality rejection).
●Obsession with 10-Yen Coins & My Sinful Behavior (lol)
To play a 10-yen game, you need a 10-yen coin.
So while exploring, my eyes were constantly darting around searching for coins…
“Oh! There’s a 10-yen coin on the ground!" …Well, sorry, God.
I took it (lol).
“It’s allowed because it’s a game!" I bargained with myself while snatching spare change.
I’m not a hero, I’m just a pocket-change thief at this point!
The Closet Terror & The Legend of Mayuhime
Inside my grandmother’s house, the authentic 1980s atmosphere was genuinely eerie.
And then… the “Monster" finally appeared!!
"DON’T COME NEAR ME! GO AWAY!!" I panicked and dove straight into a closet, peeking out through the wooden slats…
My heart was thumping so loud in my chest, I didn’t feel alive.
Meanwhile, the old documents found in the storehouse told the tragic legend of “Mayuhime" (Cocoon Princess) and the dark history of a family that prospered through silkworms… The lore is surprisingly deep and terrifying!
💬Riri’s Overall Impressions
…I AM EXHAUSTED!! (Soul-deep scream)
Honestly, the graphics are so stunningly detailed that it feels like real life!
Which is exactly why every little stain on the wall or dark corner felt genuinely terrifying!
Still, the nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere was really wonderful. Rotary dial phones, CRT TVs, retro posters… It’s scary, but it has this nostalgic charm that keeps you hooked✨ (I kind of want an actual 10-yen arcade machine at home now…)
If my screaming brought a smile to your face… well, I guess all the horror was worth it! (lol)
I barely survived, but the mystery only deepens from here. What is the true identity of that monster? Next time, I’ll continue exploring, even if it costs me my voice! Everyone, please come and support me on stream—
