📖 Synopsis

Having cleared Mt. Moon and reached Cerulean City, Riri triumphed in her Pokémon battle against Cerulean Gym Leader “Misty"!
Armed with the Cascade Badge, she encounters a certain man up on Nugget Bridge north of Cerulean City…
The journey through the Kanto region now expands its stage toward Vermilion City and a grand luxury cruise ship!

💰 My Obsessive 45 Nuggets! & The Truth of Route 25

First, picking up right where we left off! After running the “Nugget" old man marathon on the bridge, I ended up collecting a whopping 45 of them! Plus one more found along the way, making a total of 46!

Once you progress the story and can’t get any more, it actually feels a little lonely… Should I have grinded even more? (lol) Well, thanks to this, I can enjoy a high-class, luxury journey without ever worrying about money for a while✨

And then, Route 25! On the game screen, it just looks like a row of trees, but from a lore perspective, it’s supposed to feel like “trainers hiding out deep within the woods." Using a bit of imagination makes the scenery so much more interesting!

…Well, there were also fully-fledged couples flirting away inside the woods, though!! (Of course, I thoroughly defeated them w)

🧬 Bill, That Is Literally “The Fly"!

In the tall grass on Route 4 right before entering Mt. Moon, I spent some time grinding and managed to catch Nidoran♀ (Risa) and Jigglypuff (Caramel)!

They were the exact Pokémon I was aiming for, so I was super happy to catch them and add them to my team✨

When we finally reached the cottage on the Cape, the famous Pokémon maniac Bill was there… wait, has he fused with a Pokémon!?! No way, that is literally the movie The Fly! It’s pure horror!

When he asked me to help turn him back, I chose “No" out of sheer curiosity, but… He forcefully dragged me down the “Yes" route anyway (lol).

Though, I was genuinely relieved once he safely turned back into a human💦

📱 Getting the Long-Awaited “Battle Seacher"!

Arriving in Vermilion City and stepping into the Pokémon Center, I finally got my hands on the long-awaited “Battle Seacher"!

Now I can rematch trainers I’ve already fought before! Not only is it super convenient for leveling up, but being able to enjoy the trainers’ unique battle dialogue all over again is a feature I personally love so much. I really hope this makes a comeback in future Pokémon games too~.

⚔️ Surprise Rival Battle on the S.S. Anne & Questioning the Captain’s Career Aptitude

Using the luxury cruise ticket given to me by Bill, I boarded the S.S. Anne!

The inside of the ship is a non-stop battlefest against tons of Pokémon trainers. (Even though a few of them were totally unreasonable lol)

While exploring the ship all excited and upbeat… out pops my rival!!

No way, nobody warned me! It’s a complete surprise ambush!! I already knew it was coming so I was fine, but just imagining what would’ve happened if I had to fight him with zero healing… it’s seriously nerve-wracking, guys. Everyone, be careful when boarding the S.S. Anne, okay…!?

After somehow crushing my rival and making it to the captain’s quarters, who should be waiting there but the captain, suffering from terrible seasickness.

“Wait, you’re a ship captain and you get seasick… doesn’t that mean you lack career aptitude!?" I mentally screamed while gently rubbing his back (lol).

As a token of gratitude, I successfully received the Hidden Machine “Cut"! With this, we can finally head to the Vermilion Gym! (Though honestly, why did I even try to check the trash cans…)

💡 Useful Tips (Strategy Guide)!

Here are some early-game strategy tips I gathered from playing!

  • Get “Cut" as soon as possible!: Cure the captain’s seasickness in his cabin, and you’ll get “Cut," which is essential for taking on the Vermilion Gym challenge.
  • Secure your finances with Nugget farming!: Utilize the money-making trick at Nugget Bridge to ensure your wallet is fully stacked right from the early game.
  • Explore the S.S. Anne with a plan!: Since the ship features many consecutive trainer battles, don’t forget to prepare with healing items and visits to the Pokémon Center beforehand.

🎙️ Riri’s Summary Impressions 💜

From rescuing Bill and taking down Team Rocket to boarding the S.S. Anne, this session was packed to the brim with events and felt genuinely thrilling!

Especially inside the S.S. Anne, where I could battle all sorts of trainers and experience that unexpected surprise rival battle—it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. There’s something about that restricted feeling of “Once you leave, you can’t come back" that really gets you pumped up for exploration. Thanks to that, I didn’t quite make it to the Vermilion Gym yet, but experiencing these tightly packed, scattered little events is just so much fun♪

Now that we’ve got “Cut" in hand, we can finally challenge the Vermilion Gym!

Next time is a showdown with the Electric-type user, Lt. Surge! I’m gonna psych myself up and give it everything I’ve got! Gotta make sure we bring some Ground-type Pokémon, right?♪
