Pokémon LeafGreen Play Diary #07: The Gym Leader Is a Ninja! Koga’s Invisible Walls and a Victory by a Hair – Riri Ititama / Vtuber

This time, I’m bringing you part 7 of my Pokémon LeafGreen play diary~!🎮
I infiltrated a trick mansion? (It’s the Gym!) to earn the Soul Badge!
But really, what are invisible walls even made of, lol? Glass? No — you can totally see them!

🌟Story
Having wiped out Team Rocket’s hideout, I arrived in the next city, Fuchsia City.
To earn a new badge, I would challenge the Fuchsia Gym, guarded by invisible walls!
💤 Snorlax Again! And the Enchanting “Amulet Coin"
Another Snorlax appeared on the road!
I accidentally knocked it out during the battle, but well, I had already caught one before, so it’s fine, I guess.
With symbol-encounter Pokémon like Snorlax, if you knock one out you can never get it again, so if you haven’t caught one yet, you really have to be careful!
Actually, at the start of the stream, I asked my viewers in a poll whether they would want the Amulet Coin or the Lucky Egg more.
And then, I finally got my hands on the “Amulet Coin"!
Money is very important in this game.
If a Pokémon holding this item takes part in a battle, the money you earn for winning doubles!
Now I can exploit… ahem, I mean, extract funds from all those rich Trainers out there.
That means lots of adventure money from here on (lol).
How splendid!
🥷 Invisible Walls and Koga, the Ninja Whose Laugh Is Straight out of FF!

The Fuchsia Gym is blocked off by “invisible walls", so getting to the Gym Leader, Koga, is no simple task.
Well, if you squint really hard, you can see them, though.
As a little strategy tip: some of the square floor tiles have a “single white dot" at one of their four corners.
Those spots are walls, and you absolutely cannot pass through them.
That tiny difference is what tells you whether you can go forward or not.
After defeating all the Trainers, it was finally time to challenge Gym Leader Koga!

His very first line was a laugh — “Fwahahaha!" — which instantly reminded me of a certain Ex-something from some FANTASY game (lol).
But Koga is a poison-using ninja, and his ace Muk was seriously strong!
With the level gap, its hits hurt a lot and I panicked a little, but by chipping away with Leech Seed and throwing everything I had into an all-out item war, I won by the skin of my teeth!
Still, Koga, honestly.
He hands over the TM with a smug face, going on about “the secret art passed down in my family!", but with a TM, anyone can teach the move to any Pokémon, you know.
Some “secret art"…
Right? lol
🌊 From the Seafoam Islands to Cinnabar Town!
After that, I headed to the Seafoam Islands, where fierce currents flow.
There are lots of rare Pokémon there, but this time I only took a quick peek.
That said, I did catch a Seel I named “Koma-chan", a Slowbro named “Nyaan", and a Tentacool named “Rageku", and I picked up a Water Stone too.
I didn’t make it to the deepest part, where Articuno is said to be, this time, though.
I’d like to explore it properly another time.
And then, across the sea, I arrived in Cinnabar Town!
Blaine should be at the Cinnabar Gym here, but it seems the Gym is locked.
Apparently the key is in a ruined building called the “Pokémon Mansion", so I went to check it out — but the wild Pokémon inside were pretty strong…
The diary entries inside the mansion even mentioned Mew and Mewtwo, which made my heart pound as I read on.
You progress by flicking hidden switches here and there, and there are strong Trainers inside, too.
Time-wise, I couldn’t explore all the way to the back this time, but I’d love to explore the Pokémon Mansion thoroughly another time
💡 Strategy Points for This Time
How to spot invisible walls: A spot with a “single white dot" at one corner of a square floor tile is a wall. The trick is to squint and stare.
Amulet Coin: If a Pokémon holding it takes part in a battle, the prize money you receive for winning doubles. A perfect companion for raising adventure funds.
A leveling tip: The only Pokémon that stop obeying you when their level gets too high are ones received through trades. Pokémon you caught and raised yourself can be leveled up without worry.
💬Riri’s Thoughts
Every Pokémon battle takes a while, so progress isn’t exactly speedy, but I’m glad I at least made it to Cinnabar Town!
Once you’ve been somewhere once, you can Fly back and forth anytime, after all.
Also, the bosses’ levels have been climbing, so I’d like to do a bit of leveling up.
On stream I mentioned something like, “Apparently, once they pass level 50 they stop obeying you, so the balance seems tricky…" — but, well…
💡 A Little Trivia from Riri!
Actually, the only Pokémon that stop obeying you when their level is too high without badges are ones “received from other people through trades"!
Pokémon you caught and raised yourself from the start will always listen to you, no matter how high their level gets, so feel free to level them up as much as you like💖
Next time, I’ll go rescue the “Silph Company" in Saffron City, which has been taken over by Team Rocket!
First of all, that guard at the gate who won’t let me through because he “wants some tea"…

You’re on duty — go buy your own tea!!
